Medical Insurance Collection Supervisor Job Description Candidates must have the following
Qualifications:
Candidate to have experience managing a collection department with knowledge of medical appeal guidelines and insurance verification processes.
Proficient with handling appeals and insurance verification Use effective communication skills Proficient with Microsoft excel Knowledge of medical appeal guidelines by insurance plan Experience with multispecialty billing guidelines, including but not limited to OB/GYN, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, PCP etc.
Note:
This is NOT a level entry position - must have supervisory and medical insurance collection experience to apply.
Medical Insurance Collection Supervisor Expectations and/ or
Responsibilities:
Work along side experienced billing managers for guidance and training to oversee various insurance collectors in the department.
Analyze reimbursement procedures and accounts to obtain maximum reimbursement.
Review and analyze the Collection Specialist daily log.
Work closely with ProMD Account Executive, Collectors or Billing Manager to improve and maintain billing and collection processes.
Participate in training and preparing personnel in the collection department as needed (system training, insurance verification, appeals, etc.
) Facilitate department functions such as billing, charge entry, collection, follow-up, coding, payment posting and checks balance resolution.
Assist in the interviewing and hiring process of future Insurance Collectors.
Continue the development of existing Collectors, and continuation of implementation of department policies/procedures.
Focus on payer profiles, contracts and denied claims.
Able to identify potential problem trends including incorrect coding, carrier nonpayment trends, physician coding inconsistencies, etc.
Assist with yearly evaluations by offering input to the Manager.
Schedule monthly department meetings.
Develop an agenda with Accounts & Receivables feedback, carrier's update, and error trends.
Create and maintain a positive, disciplined work environment.
Maintain ultimate confidentiality provide ongoing support to our clients, management & employees.
