911 Dispatcher Call Taker Teletype Operator
Responsibilities:
Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls from the public.
Gather essential information and details from callers to assess the nature of the situation accurately.
Remain calm and composed while providing clear and concise instructions or assistance to callers.
Dispatch appropriate emergency response units, such as police, fire, or medical personnel, to the location of incidents.
Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing communications.
Operate teletype systems to receive and transmit messages between agencies and departments.
Coordinate with other dispatchers and agencies to ensure effective response and resource allocation.
Follow established protocols and procedures for handling various types of emergencies.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in a responsible and ethical manner.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
Ability to multitask and make quick decisions under pressure.
Proficiency in using computer systems and technology.
Familiarity with radio systems and dispatching equipment is a plus.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
