Promoting a healthy school environment that is conducive to student well-being, fosters positive behavior, and supports higher academic achievement.
This program is designed to identify, prevent, or remedy student health problems and to improve access to quality health care and other relevant community supports through delivery of comprehensive services in the schools and appropriate referrals to community care.
The Clinician will be subject to Borinquen Health Care Center, Inc.
Employee Policies, following the standards within the MDCPS & TCT protocols.
DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
The Clinician will be responsible for implementing the social work/mental/behavioral health activities and must have a minimum of a master's degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling or related field.
Services will be delivered remotely.
Responsibilities of the Clinician include, but are not limited to:
Developmental, behavioral, social, emotional health screening and ESE supports, and referral, as needed; Perform assessments such as psychosocial/developmental history, adaptive behavior measurements, and classroom observations; Prepare individualized assessments and incorporate parents', students', and teachers' perspectives and performance objectives into final assessments; Implement interventions aimed at improving students' behavioral health, social-emotional development, and academic achievement; Provide individual, group and family counseling to address targeted problems interfering with students' functioning and well-being; Identify obstacles to success while building on strengths and resiliencies.
Offer the opportunity to explore different ways of understanding and perceiving the environment and facilitate effective ways of coping; Assist schools in creating and maintain a safe school environment that promotes learning and the development of cognitive, academic, emotional, and social growth among students; Participate in reducing risk of vulnerable students by promoting awareness, responding to crises and assisting schools in reinstating a state of functional safety and security.
Referral and connection of families to needed community services and resources, including other programs funded by the Children's Trust Health education concerning identified risk factors and behavioral changes to reduce risks; Providing preventative health services and if applicable supporting the primary health care provider.
When applicable to provide recommendations for environmental/social changes to their supervisor.
Collect, analyze, and document comprehensive data and maintain data including information on follow-ups, referrals, monthly reports and other appropriate records; Promote measures and programs to ensure a safe environment; Adheres to the practice of confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines including BMC policies and procedures.
Report child abuse and neglect; Consults with the Program Coordinator and/or SW/MHP Supervisor Consults with BMC Director of behavioral health, as needed Attend all mandatory Staff, BHCC, TCT, and other meetings as directed Adheres to the SHP MHP remote school delivery of service guidelines Adheres to the remote support operations guidelines Follows student remote support case progression process Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, as required
Qualifications:
Possess an active clinical license in the State of Florida; Adhere to the values and ethics of the social work profession and use professional standards for School Social Work Services and Code of Ethics as guides in decision-making; Model professional behaviors that contribute to addressing the needs of students, families, and the school community ; Keep abreast of current community resources and determine how these resources may be beneficial to students and their families; Have at least three year of professional experience and knowledge of the clinical needs of students enrolled in M-DCPS; Be able to comply and maintain all professional licensure requirements; Be able to maintain confidentiality of classified agency and client information; Have knowledge of the latest principles and practices of the discipline; Possess strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to work and communicate with diverse groups and individuals; Complete successfully the mandated criminal background screening and fingerprinting as required by M-DCPS; Have fluency in multiple languages preferred; Implement services in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and M-DCPS school board policies that relate to students and families; Expand and exchange knowledge through consultation with other colleagues; Must have Wi-Fi/internet access in remote location Must be available to work evenings and on weekends REMOTE SUPPORT PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS Clinician is expected to follow their assigned schedule on a daily basis unless otherwise approved by the Program Coordinator.
Designate a HIPAA compliance workspace area during remote delivery of service.
Maintain email, phone, web conferencing availability during scheduled work hours Maintain regular communication with BMC SHP staff and School administration as needed.
Maintain regular reporting/documentation compliance both Health Master, ATHENA (if BMC consent was obtained), Non-Consent Visit forms.
Maintain daily service records utilizing Encounter Sign-in Sheet.
Submit Daily Report email.
(Due daily before close of business day).
Complete and submit New Referral Case Log and Current Case Log.
(Due Fridays before close of business day).
Complete and submit MHP Monthly Data Sheet report (Due on the 5 th of the month If the Clinician calls in sick, he/she must notify their direct supervisor at least 2 hours before the scheduled shift for sufficient time of gap coverage for the school.
If the immediate supervisor is unavailable, contact the Chief of Special Programs.
Clinician is expected to have 2 punches in ADP by the end of each work day.
If for whatever reason this does not occur, it is the responsibility of the employee to notify the Program Coordinator for proper adjustments to be made.
Clinician is expected to collaborate with RN/LPN regarding student referrals for developmental, behavioral, social, and emotional health Clinician is responsible for reading and abiding by BHCC Employee handbook.
All employees must adhere to BHCC Standards of Practice, BHCC Values and Guiding Behaviors.
Clinician should ensure quality of care through consultation, collaboration, continuing educations, and evaluation supporting quality standards and population health outcomes.
Clinical practice is based upon institutional guidelines, professional practice standards, and relevant statues and regulations.
Documentation validation will be evaluated by direct supervisor as needed ALL Frontline and ATHENA encounters must be entered before the end of each work day.
If the Clinician is unable to complete data entry the direct supervisor must be informed before the end of the work day.
Clinician is responsible for adhering to the following Manuals:
School Health Policy and Procedures, School Health Administrative Guidelines, and Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Policy.
These manuals must be reviewed before school year commences.
