What does the right candidate look like? High volume experience is important! We are a large private group and the high volume experience is priceless.
Controller experience is desired, but a high performing Office Manager with high volume exposure, Financial Statement, Sales Tax, Fixed Asset, and Monthly Accruals experience will be considered.

Able to work with minimal direction - someone who doesn't need to be micromanaged.
Someone that takes ownership and is comfortable being a leader.
Enjoys training accounting staff and is also eager to learn and grow in their role.
Ability to work with different personality styles to ensure partnership amongst departments and colleagues.
Prefer someone with Chevrolet, Cadillac, and/or Volvo experience, but not required.
Responsibilities:
Daily cash flow.
Daily review and approval of checks.
Review schedules weekly, delegate responsibilities to staff, and hold co-workers accountable.
Prepare, review, and submit Financial Statements monthly.
Help coordinate the month-end schedule for Accounting, Variable, and Fixed Ops.
Review bank reconciliation, inventory reconciliation, floor plan reconciliation, parts pad reconciliation, parts statement reconciliation, and any/all other reconciliations monthly.
Prepare all required state/county/city taxes and fees; review filings before submission.
Supervise, mentor, and review performance for an accounting staff of 12-14 associates.
Seek out ways to use technology to increase security, minimize errors, and create efficiencies.
Able to work standard dealership accounting office schedule with 1 weekend days and/or a few late nights per month to accommodate month-end.
We try to keep it to a minimum, but some extra effort is required during month-end.
Ad hoc projects in accounting and to support our operations teams when needed.
Requirements:
One (1) year or more of experience in similar function.
High-school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent communication skills.
Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office and Excel) is needed, but someone with strong Excel/technology experience will receive priority consideration.
Knowledge of GAAP or public dealership accounting procedures is a plus.
Proficiency with Reynolds & Reynolds software a plus.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
