$25,000 Sign on BonusThe Department of Neurological Surgery is currently seeking a full time Registered Nurse 1 - Specialty to work in Miami.
The Registered Nurse 1 - Specialty delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring population-specific patient care.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS 1.
Assesses assigned patients and evaluates plans to include documentation of nursing care.
2.
Reports symptoms and changes in patients' condition and vital signs.
3.
Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions, and physician orders.
4.
Reviews, evaluates, and reports diagnostic tests to assess patient's condition.
5.
Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals related to assigned patients to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
6.
Prepares patients for, and assists with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
Considers patient age and culture during patient treatments and provides any needed information regarding treatment plan.
Nurtures a compassionate environment by providing psychological support.
7.
Performs appropriate patient tests and safely administers medications within the scope of practice.
Administers and maintains accurate records related to medications and treatments as per regulatory bodies, policies, procedures, and physician orders.
8.
Communicates plan of care in a timely manner to patient and family, as well as the appropriate team members, ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines (i.
e.
HIPAA).
Uses best practices for transition of patient care.
9.
Utilizes available resources to assist in discharge planning.
10.
Plans, prioritizes, and adjusts assignments to accomplish goals and render superior patient care; seeks assistance when needed.
11.
Adapts to changing work demands and environment.
12.
Operates the appropriate medical equipment.
13.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
DEPARTMENT ADDENDUMDepartment Specific Functions1.
Provides care to patients with complex cranial and spinal conditions by triaging and performing health assessment, developing differential diagnosis, and/or prescribing medications and/or treatments as directed by physicians/providers.
2.
Identifies and prioritizes nursing care needs for patients/families.
3.
Establishes methods to evaluate and document nursing interventions and plan of care4.
Plans, evaluates or modifies treatment program based on information gathered by reviewing and interviewing patient's records and/or patient feedback.
5.
Provides education to patient based on current treatment plan including pre and post-operative guidance 6.
Assists with cross coverage between spinal/cranial practices.
7.
Prepares, assists, and attends weekly MRI multidisciplinary committee for base of skull and spinal patients, follow up with recommendations made as needed 8.
Oversees and monitors most recent patient assessment and outcomes to determine if current plan of care should be adjusted9.
Optimizes patient care by evaluation, current practices, reviewing alternatives, consulting with patient care managers and educating team10.
Collaborates closely with patient care providers for direction in patient care as needed11.
Coordinates services with other patient care teams as required; maintains communication with allied services and maintains community liaison as appropriate.

Reviews patient reports for critical and/or incidental findings.
