The Peer Recovery Services Specialist will provide recovery support to all program participants in a supportive housing/residential treatment program for clients with substance use disorder (SUD), serious mental illness (SMI), co-occurring SUD and mental illness (COD) or individuals with SUD/COD serving the last part of their sentence in a Residential Reentry Center (RRC) returning to Miami-Dade or Broward Counties from federal incarceration.
S/he will help integrate participants into the community, attend 12-Step program meetings, manage their finances and find healthy recreational outlets.
S/he will also help them maintain adherence to treatment.
S/he supports participants through shared experience and provide escort and navigation services to participants, as needed.
Will lead groups to share their personal experiences and offer effective strategies to meet recovery goals.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in health, social or community services.
High school diploma or GED; required.
Bachelor's Degree; preferred.
A diagnosed SMI and SUD; history of incarceration or alternative to incarceration programs; history of chronic homelessness; evidence of treatment adherence and housing stability.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Knowledge of the community.
Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries with clients and community members.
Excellent communication skills.
Mediation and dispute resolution skills.
