This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Investigative Operations Division, located in Miami, FL. This position is located within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), Investigative Operations Division (IOD), Mission Readiness, Specialized Operations Unit (SOU), Cyber Investigations (Cyber). Performs various Information Technology work, specifically duties relating to Cyber Security such as:
network and systems engineering, enterprise architecture, intelligence analysis, investigation or investigative analysis and cyber related infrastructure interdependency analysis. The primary purpose of this position is to support Cyber Investigations through IT systems development based on operational requirements, perform IT systems maintenance to ensure operational continuity and compliance with CBP and DHS policies and meet Comprehensive National Cyber Security initiative goals and objectives. This position starts at a salary of $97,179.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $126,336.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $126,336 (GS-13 Step 10). In this position, you will be performing the below duties:
Installing and maintaining software and hardware, controls current versions and future releases of applications software, and documents the physical configuration of OPR's investigative IT systems. Optimizes the functionality, diagnoses, and recovers failed systems Performing IT systems maintenance to ensure operational continuity and compliance with CBP and DHS policies and meet Comprehensive National Cyber Security initiative goals and objectives; Planning and executing difficult and complex IT Cyber Security assignments and develops new methods, approaches, and procedures. Conducts analysis and recommends resolution of complex issues affecting OPR's IT systems; and Evaluating and recommending adoption of new or enhanced approaches to delivering IT services that enhance OPR's Cyber Investigative needs. Basic Requirement:
Individuals must have Information Technology (IT) related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Experience:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Providing advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of complex cyber IT issues through the interpretation of CBP policies, standards and guidance; Installing and maintaining software and hardware, diagnosing failed systems and controlling current versions and future release of application software; and Providing guidance on complex IT Cyber security assignments, and developing new approaches and procedures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/10/2020. There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment.
